Daily Burn: Day Eight/Nine

Day eight of  daily burn was fairly intense. I began the day with a delicious smoothie and after my daughter went down for her nap I opened my daily burn video's and right there on the front page was a 48 min video called Animal Core.

The comment's from every single person said it was the hardest work out so far that they have encountered. So naturally I wanted to try it.
I had no clue how hard this was going to be, the trainer gives each move a cute animal name like the dolphin, and the gorilla swing, donkey kick, aligator push ups. Really these are incredibly painful floor routines. I had to do the modified version of each work out and I only made it through 35 min of it. I plan on going through it again at some point though!!

Diet: Breakfast - Delicious smoothie: 1 cup of ice, 1/2 cup of yogurt, 1/2 cup of strawberries, 1/2 cup of oats 1 tbs of honey.
        Lunch: Refied beans on a home made corn tortilla with lettuce on top
        Dinner: 1 cup of spaghetti with a side of apples

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Day Nine was my birthday, and I was tempted to deviate from the path of change. But I stayed strong.
I began my morning with one of my presents from my husband; protein powder!
Something I have been missing from my morning smoothies. I couldn't wait to put a shake together. So I began my morning with a berry, banana smoothie. From there I chose to get my 3 girls out of the house because it was a beautiful day. So no video work out. Instead we took a 2 mile walk through the canyon to mcdonalds where we got ourselves a berry parfait, then we walked back. I worked to tighten muscles while walking and tried to keep a very fast pace...as fast as i could with a 5 and 6 year old.
But at the end of our walk I was really feeling it. I stretched to try and get my muscles healed up. Lunch was a bit tricky because I was really wiped out from the walk, I ended up just having an egg on some toast.
Birthday Dinner was very tricky, my husband took me to a new restaurant, one that I really wanted to try. Sadly they had next to nothing on their menu that I could have. They had one salad...ONE and it had nothing in it, just some onions and olives they had soup but only the soup of the day. So I chose to do soup and a mini salad. Literally everything else on the menu was covered in grease. The soup of the day was Broccoli Cheddar. I nearly cried. That soup is sooooooo fatty, but I guess it was better than a big fat cheeseburger. So I had a soup and salad.
After wards we went and got frozen yogurt. I stuck to low fat 100 calorie yogurts only and topped it with a bunch of fruit.
Over all a great birthday and an awesome Daily Burn.
Daily Burn: Day Seven
 I have officially hit my one week mark!!!!
I am super excited and I feel great~ Day seven was actually a great day, everything was back to normal as far as my "schedule" went. On Monday I did some really intense work with my muscles so today I took some time to just heal. I did a 40 min mobility and recover video it added in I guess some yoga moves but it felt great and my muscles feel much better.
As far as my diet, I did great started my morning with the usual smoothie but this time I skipped the banana and added low fat yogurt...and the consistency was kind of yuck but it tasted amazing. Still no coffee..I cannot believe I have gone an entire week with out coffee and I have barely noticed.
For lunch I had to homemade gluten free corn tortillas no oil necessary to make into a tostada- I added a tbs of re fie'd  beans sprinkled very lightly with cheddar cheese and added tons of lettuce and a tsp of salsa..it was super yummy.
For Dinner, I made the BEST spaghetti of my life and I just had to have some, but I limited my portion to one cup and had a bunch of green salad with carrots and tomatoes.
Best part of the Day! NO CHEAT!!! Nothing. It was great.
And If you remember my original weigh in was 204 pounds.
One week later my current weight is .........198 pounds!! Slowly but surely I am inching towards my goal and the best part is, I have never felt better!!
Wahoo lets keep going.
Daily Burn: Day Six
Day Six went really well,
 It was a holiday so the "schedule" was still off, but the nice thing about the holiday is that it meant Jose was able to stay home. He was able to watch Naomi while I squeezed in a 40 min work out. Stretches and kick boxing, it felt amazing but my muscles were getting really sore.
As far as my diet, I did great all day except for a little bbq held in the evening.
 We went and celebrated Memorial Day and a three year old's birthday with some friends. I did pretty well, I only had one slice of bread with my hamburger and went light on the potato salad and had lots of veggies. I did have a small piece of cake and when I was given two scoops of ice cream I put one scoop back in the bucket. So overall I felt pretty good about the day.
Diet: Breakfast ~ Banana, Blueberry, and Strawberry smoothie
        Lunch~ Left over chicken on green salad
        Dinner~ Hamburger with potato salad, carrots and cracker dip with some wheat thins
        Cheat~ Cake and Ice cream.....so worth it ..yum!
Daily Burn: Day Five
Day five was Sunday and I felt challenged again to stay on "schedule." Really what I mean by schedule is basically not eating away from the house and plenty of time in my day to work out. Sunday, was tricky because we have church in the morning and in the afternoon we rush to get lunch on the table for our 3 hungry kiddos.
I felt like I did pretty good especially after completely flopping on Saturday, I was determined to make Sunday count!
One of my biggest changes during this 21 day challenge has been eliminating coffee from my diet. I actually just tricked myself out of it. I never would have thought it was possible for me to give it up. But I am 5 days "sober" from coffee that is...lol.
It is a huge adjustment but I actually have tons more energy with starting my day with the smoothie, so I don't normally miss it. However, Sunday was a CHALLENGE!! My husband and I stayed in the nursery during service from start to finish. Let me tell you, it was draining. Draining, like my eyes wanted shut and I was irritated with everyone, I became frustrated that I was so tired and desperately wanted coffee.
Everything even'd out once I had some lunch, I never gave into the coffee thing, but it wasn't easy. The good news, I got back on track with the video's, I spent 40 minuets sweating it out in a cardio sculpting video...It was amazing!
Diet:  Breakfast ~ Banana and Blueberry Smoothie
         Lunch~ Chicken Salad one a single piece of wheat toast topped with lettuce and a single piece of fat free skim milk american cheese.
        Dinner~ Shredded chicken with 1 Tbs of salsa added in thrown on top of fresh green salad with a dollop of sour cream.
        Cheat: A few bites of my german chocolate birthday brownies
Daily Burn: Day Four
 Day Four was kind of a Flop....I really had to try not to beat myself up about it. It being Saturday our whole schedule is different. For one thing my husband is home which is a great thing but we get so busy completing projects and house work. So, I spent about 2 hours scrubbing my bathrooms, dusting my living room, and scrubbing dish's. After that we had to leave and just kept going until that evening. My big plan to watch my work out video's didn't happen. However, I did burn a ton of calories scrubbing my house, so I guess that counts.
It was also a bit of a rough day for my diet. Breakfast and lunch were great, buttt then we went to a birthday party and well..I had really good intentions to be awesome. I did stay away from chips and I only ate one piece of bread with my hamburger, I had lots of fruit...but then everything came crashing down when I opened my german chocolate brownie's... yeah. It was a rough day, but all good. I have to allow myself some grace and remember to just get back on track, so tomorrow will also be weird because it's still the weekend but like I said, I will have to adapt and over come!
Breakfast: Banana and Strawberry smoothie
Lunch:   Grilled chicken with pinto beans and one hard boiled egg
Dinner: One hamburger, 1 cup of cantaloupe and 1/2 cup of whipped cottage cheese with banana's
Cheat: 1 12oz root beer and german chocolate cake and ice cream
Weigh in- 199.0
Daily Burn: Day Three
Day three into this new life change of mine and I must say things are going great. It is always frustrating when I start something like this because of course I never see immediate results. This however, is the first time I have adapted my diet along with my work outs.
Although, I never did rid my life of the "evil 6" I am still checking labels, which I honestly never did in the past. I am only eating things with real ingredients and I am trying to avoid the evil 6.
Today because of the kick boxing and other work out's my muscles are pretty sore, so for my work out today I plan on stretching as much as possible. So I did a 30 min Yoga video which was embarrassing, because I am NOT flexible. Also I did a 20 min warm up stretching video. Both were exactly what I needed to help my poor muscles.
Diet :         Breakfast~ Banana and Blueberry smoothie
                 Lunch~ Grilled chicken with gluten free corn tortilla's (3) and 1 cup of heated pinto beans
                 Dinner~ Orange chicken 1/2 cup and 1 cup of white steamed rice
                 Snack~ one hard boiled egg , 1/2 cup of fat free vanilla yogurt with blueberries
                 Cheat~ a few sips of hubby's root beer float honestly a few sips!
When my husband recommended that we go out for dinner, of course I was super excited to not cook. However, I began to panic when he suggested Chinese food. I am a new beginner at this healthy life style stuff but I know that Chinese food is not so great for my lifestyle adventure change.
I calmed down and decided that I am going to face challenges like this all the time and I need to learn to just adapt and overcome. So when the crab puff wan ton's were ordered, I had none. Also the pork fried rice, I had none. I kept my plate super empty and just stuck to the chicken and white rice. I know those two things were still bad for me, but it felt like a win.
Also, after wards we went through A&W which we NEVER do, seriously we budget our money very closely and we do not splurge like ever. So when my husband wanted to get a root beer float it was really really hard not to order something sweet. The girls got a vanilla cone to share and my husband got a root beer float then paused and asked the question I was praying he would not ask; "babe, do you want anything?" I about said, Yes, I will have a cone and a float, but I stayed strong and settled for taking just a few sips from his float. Overall it was a great day and I am happy to report after the weigh in at the end of the day from 202.4 pounds my new weight is ...................................199.0 Pounds!!!! That's right I lost weight!! I am so excited! I look forward to tomorrow.
Daily Burn: Day Two
     Day two of Mama Get's Fit went really well!
I began my morning with a smoothie, of course the 21 day challenge doesn't recommend using milk or bananas, but I have to be realistic and use what I have. Also as a household with just one income I realized it may not be the most wise thing to empty my whole house of the "evil 6" so instead I will do my best to avoid the foods that I know have them and make a conscious effort to stay healthy.
                   Breakfast Smoothie: 2 Bananas, 1 cup of blueberries, 1 1/2 cups of milk
I then did a 15 min mobility and stretching video followed by 37 min of kickboxing
                   24oz of water in between breakfast and the workout
                   Lunch: One fried egg with  one slice fat free skim american cheese one one slice of wheat toast
                   Dinner: 1 1/2 cups of Chicken with corn and black beans
Cheat: 2 oatmeal raisin cookies
Overall it was a great day there were some tough parts, like when my family had delicious buttermilk biscuits with dinner. I stayed strong but then fell weak later that night because Naomi wouldn't sleep. I had one biscuit with blueberries. I usually go to bed by 9pm but on the nights when that doesn't go as planned I usually get weak ...something I am really trying to overcome.
Daily Burn: Day One
  I don't usually like to talk about getting fit. Mainly because as soon as I "talk" about it, something happens and I stop. Then that awkward conversation comes up about your progress..or lack there of.
So I am blogging about my attempts at getting fit, mainly because I would like to have somewhat of a diary while I attempt what is about to happen.
I am not very athletic...at all. I always got picked last for every single sport in P.E. and to be fair they kind of had a right to not want to pick me. I could never successfully make a basket, or goal or even dodge in dodge ball. I managed to grow up with this mentality that I am just not fit and its ok to be out of shape.
I hate that mentality and now that I am nearly 26 years old its time I make some changes.
So I started a program called Daily Burn. It's an electronic daily workout program that is delivered directly to my computer,ipad, or tv. It is completely customized for my entry level work out skills. In addition to the work out videos it gives you this option to "ignite" which is a 21 day challenge to detox my body of the "evil 6." Now I am all for working out as long as I can still have my mcflurry's and subway sandwiches.
This program is challenging me to basically take my health a step further and see what will happen for 21 days.
So naturally I accepted this challenge, which is why I am blogging about it.
I need accountability and for someone who has never taken her health very seriously, writing about it, is the best outlet. Naturally I picked the ugliest day in May to begin my awesome transformation, but oh well, the beauty of this program is that I can do all this from my house without leaving.
I found out this was a very good idea because I do not look right when I attempt to follow the video's, I look sad and I miss nearly half of the moves.
It's ok though, I am sticking to this and accepting the 21 day challenge. Now some basics
~ The evil 6: Gluten, Soy, Dairy, added sugar, Alcohol,  & Artificial sweeteners, ~
So basically I cannot eat or drink anything with these 6 things.... So basically I cannot eat until I go shopping.
So day one will be somewhat of a wash however for my lunch I did have natural chicken breast with 1 tbs of mayo and 1 tbs of mustard mixed in with a slice of fat free skim american cheese on a single slice of wheat bread.
So I am off to a sort of good start
Some more basics~
My current weight is ..204. Heaviest I have ever been
My goal weight is 170 but not in 21 days
My 21 day goal is 185
Ok lets see what will happen! I am super excited and could use all the encouragement you can offer and I have one request please please please do not tell me this program sucks and blah blah blah and the evil 6 are not really evil and seven reasons why. I need encouragement not to be schooled on health matters because you already win just let me try my newly found exciting thing. Thanks :)
